Dr. Cliff Myburgh BVSc. DVM
Dr. Cliff graduated in 1993 at the top of his class at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, a world renowned veterinary school. After practicing at the Beach Vet Clinic in Bradenton for 5 years he started Bright Cross Animal Clinic with his wife Dr. Maria in 1998. He has a special interest in Internal Medicine and dermatology. Dr. Cliff does most of the ultrasound diagnostics here at Bright Cross. He has always focused the clinic on striving for excellence in patient care with integrity and great communication. Dr. Cliff is active in his church and enjoys fishing, diving and staying fit with swimming and cycling. Cliff and Maria have 2 beautiful girls in Venice Christian School.
Dr. Maria Dietrichs-Myburgh BVSc. DVM
Dr. Maria graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1994. She joined Dr. Cliff at Bright Cross Animal Clinic in 1999 after practicing at Lockwood Ridge Animal Clinic in Sarasota. Dr. Maria is a very experienced and talented surgeon. She does all of our soft tissue and dental surgery. Her experience always shows in the great results and fast healing of her patients. It is comforting for our clients to know she is there to see all aspects of safety during anesthesia. Maria also loves the Lord and is active in her church. She enjoys diving with Cliff, spending time with her girls, and works out to stay fit.
Holly Weber DVM, CVA
Dr. Holly Weber was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. After 18 years of grey skies and snowy winters, she moved to Melbourne, FL to attend Florida Institute of Technology, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Following graduation, Dr. Weber worked as a zoo keeper and as a veterinary assistant at a small animal/exotic hospital. After a few years of gaining work and life experience, Dr. Weber decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. She graduated from Mississippi State University in 2010 worked for a small animal/exotic/wildlife hospital in Bradenton, Florida for the past 4 years. Dr. Weber is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and is training in Chinese and Western herbal therapies. She believes in combining different modalities of Eastern and Western medicine to provide treatment for all pets. Her other interests include feline medicine, dermatology, and geriatric patient care. Outside the animal hospital, Dr. Weber is an active member of the Sarasota County Rowing Club and also enjoys running, reading, lounging at the beach, and spending time with her husband and pets. She has been part of the Bright Cross team since 2014.
Dr. Sandra Vesper
Dr. Sandra Vesper grew up in the often frozen tundra of Upstate NY. After completing undergraduate studies in pre-veterinary medicine at Findlay College in Ohio, she went directly into veterinary studies. Dr. Sandy graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary medicine in 1991. Some post-graduate studies in anatomic pathology helped fuel her passion for cytology and teaching. She also has special interests in emergency medicine, family practice/preventative care and dentistry. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Sandy enjoys spending time with her family, staying active with her church activities and small group, playing ultimate frisbee, exercising, reading, and traveling. Dr. Sandy has enjoyed being a team member at Bright Cross since 2015.
Dr. Klarissa Ligon, DVM
Dr. Klarissa Ligon is a graduate of the veterinary school at Virginia Tech and owns a general practice in Virginia with her husband. Dr. Ligon has special interests in pain management and anesthesia, as well as general surgery and Chinese Shar-Pei. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her 2 furry children, “Emi” a Chinese Shar-Pei and “Tucker” a Shar-Pei/Husky mix as well as traveling and horseback riding. Dr. Ligon is also a veterinarian for the Turks and Caicos SPCA, and volunteers her surgical and medical services to the animals of the Turks and Caicos Islands twice per year.
