Surgical Services for Pets
Dr. Maria Myburgh takes great pride in the surgical department of Bright Cross Animal Clinic. We provide a variety of surgical services and use high quality instruments to ensure the safety of your pet. For all of our surgeries, we recommend pre-surgical blood work for our pets, and may require it for pets that are middle-aged or older.
The Day of Surgery:
The team at Bright Cross strives to make the day of surgery as stress-free as possible for both you and your pet. Our pre-surgical questionnaire can be found on our forms page and can be brought with you the morning of surgery. The pre-surgical blood work can be done right in-house for your convenience. Your pet will be dropped off on the morning of surgery and given a sedative right away to ensure that they stay calm and rested before the procedure. This has proven to eliminate much needless stress.
During surgery, your pet will be connected to a monitoring system to track their vital signs, checking heart, respirations, blood pressure, core body temperature and more. A veterinary technician is assigned to monitoring your pet throughout the entire surgical procedure, to ensure their safety.
Once the surgical procedure has been completed, we will call to let you know that your pet’s surgery has been completed. At that time we will let you know when your pet will be able to go home. When you arrive, a technician will meet with you to discuss the surgery as well as any follow-up care that may be required, such as:
- Follow-up visit
- Suture removal
After this meeting, your pet will be released to your care. Our team is committed to calling you within a couple of days of the surgery to make sure your pet’s recovery is going well.
The team at Bright Cross Animal Clinic is dedicated to high-quality veterinary care and client education. We would be glad to answer any questions you may have about your pet’s surgery needs or surgical recovery. Please contact us and we’ll be happy to speak with you about your concerns.
